Description:
Bulb nearly globose, up to 3 cm in diam.; outer tunics papery, blackish. Stem robust, stocky, shorter than the leaves, 4-20(30) cm tall. Leaves 1-3, ovate or oblong-ovate, thick, 10-20(25) cm long, 2.5-7(9) cm wide. Spathe membranaceous, shortly acuminate, 2-3 times shorter than pedicels. Umbel semiglobose or nearly globose, lax, many-flowered, 7.5-10(20) cm in diameter. Pedicels unequal. Perianth almost star-shaped; tepals 6-9(10) mm long, dirty pink or greenish-brownish, with dark midvein, lanceolate, acute, after anthesis prickly with thickened midvein. Filaments slightly or up to 1.5 times shorter than tepals, at the base connate; inner filaments triangular-subulate, at the base ca. 2 times broader than outer.
