Description:
Bulb almost globose, 3-6.5 cm in diam., with grey papery tunics. Stem 80-150 cm tall. Leaves 4-6, lanceolate, almost lorate. Spathe membranaceous, shortly acuminate, 1/3-1/2 as long as pedicels. Umbel globose, many-flowered, dense, up to 9 cm in diam. Pedicels almost equal, 2–4 times longer than perianth, without bracts. Perianth star-shaped; tepals purple with dark median vein, 6-8 mm long, linear-lanceolate, obtuse, after anthesis recurved and twisted. Filaments slightly shorter than tepals, triangular-subulate, at the base connate; inner filaments at the base remarkably broader than outer ones.
