Description:
Bulb ovate to subglobose, 2-6 cm in diam.; outer tunics membranaceous, brownish; bulblets usually numerous. Stem stout, up to 180 cm tall (usually 50-80 cm). Leaves 4-10(13), sheathing 1/3–1/2 of scape, widely linear, flat, 5-20(30) mm wide, keeled, margins scabrous. Spathe 1-valved, with a long beak up to 10(13) cm lg. Umbel dense, globose, many-flowered, 5-8 cm in diam., sometimes with bulbils. Pedicels unequal, with bracts. Perianth widely campanulate or subspherical; tepals white, pink or reddish-pink, sometimes with a dark green or purple median vein, 4-5.5 mm long, unequal; outer tepals oblong-lanceolate, elliptic or elliptic-obovate, inner ones ovate or spathulate. Stamens equaling perianth or slightly exserted; outer filaments narrow triangular, simple, inner with 2 long lateral teeth; anthers yellow or purple.
