Description:
Bulb oblong-ovoid, 1-1.5 cm diam.; outer tunics greyish-brown or brown, reticulate-fibrous; bulblets few, yellowish or pale brown, sometimes absent. Stem 10-30 cm tall, sometimes 2-3 from one bulb, more or less ribbed, glabrous. Leaves 3-5(8), often exceeding the umbel, linear, fistulose, 1-2 mm wide, glabrous, sheathing the lower 1/4 to 1/2 of the stem. Spathe persistent, acuminate, 2 times shorter than the umbel. Umbel hemispherical to nearly spherical, lax, many-flowered, 3-5 cm diam. Pedicels unequal, with minute bracteoles. Perianth campanulate; tepals white or pink with a purple or green midvein, 5-6(9) mm long, almost equal, oblong-lanceolate, obtuse. Stamens not exerted; filaments connate at the base, the outer ones entire, triangular-subulate, the inner ones broader, tricuspidate. Anthers violet. Style not exserted. Ovary often with a crown at the apex. Capsule subglobose, ca. 4 mm long.
