Description:
Perennial bulbous plant. Bulb solitary, globose, 8–12 mm thick, with grey papery tunics and several bulblets. Stem 60–100 cm tall and 1.5–5 mm wide, smooth, costate, at the base enveloped with the leaf sheats. Leaves 2, linear, 2.5–6 mm wide, scabrous along the edges. Spathe 2 times shorter than umbel, with a short beak, deciduous. Umbel semiglobose to globose, dense, many-flowered. Pedicels almost equal, 2–3 times longer than perianth. Perianth star-shaped; tepals narrow triangular-linear, acuminate, ca. 8 mm long, reflected and twisted after anthesis, pink-violet with dark median vein. Filaments shorter than tepals, in upper part subulate, at the base shortly connate and widened, with 2 long lateral teeth, ciliate. Anthers oblong, ca. 2–2.5 mm long, violet. Ovary stipitate, depressed globose-triangular, ca. 3 mm long, scabrous, greyish-green. Capsule obovate-triangular, 5-6 mm long. Flowering V–VI, fruiting VI–VII.
